Composition:

Each dose contains not less than 1 x 107 CFU of Salmonella gallinarum 9R strain.

Indication:

A vaccine indicated against Fowl Typhoid and Salmonella pullorum infections in healthy layer and breeder birds for both initial and booster vaccination. It can also be used in chicks to stimulate active cross protection against other infections.

Vaccination Program:

The vaccination schedule may vary, depending on factors like incidence and poultry flock concentration, however the following schedule is applicable to most areas:

  • The first dose of the vaccine can be administered between 6 and 8 weeks of age.
  • A booster vaccine can be given between 14 and 16 weeks of age. This should be given at least 2 weeks prior to the onset of lay.
  • The ideal dose per bird is 0.2 ml.
  • Vaccine Reaction: Poor vaccination technique can make the head or neck region of the chick swell up.

Administration:

The vaccine must be administered by the subcutaneous method, using standard aseptic techniques.

Pack Size and Storage:

The vaccine is freeze dried (lyophilised) and are available in pack sizes of 500 and 1000 doses per vial. Protect the vaccine from light and store between 2°C and 8°C; do not freeze it.
